Rundown
Since windows 10 is coming soon, I believe it to be a good idea to be prepared for it when the time comes to press that install button. These are a couple things to check for or do in order to be ready and not face any inconveniences to the incoming OS,
Requirements:
- RAM: 1GB for 32-bit / 2GB for 64-bit
- Storage: 16GB for 32-bit / 20GB for 64-bit
- CPU: 1GHz or faster
- Graphics: DirectX 9 capable video card
Backup your Data!
You should make sure you have your data backed up in order to make the transition easier, You can use googles own cloud service "OndeDrive" , you can use Googles "Google Drive" or you can use "Dropbox". All these are cloud based services that allow you to save data from your computer without having to have a physical drive to save your data to. These services also have mobile apps to go in pair with, you can upload your photos or other files to these sites, so their use will most likely be useful beyond the simple data backup.
Check For Updates
It would be wise to check for updates on your windows device, being up to date shouldnt really matter but its best to do so and not be required to do those later, since windows 10 will have updates installed automatically and lets say forcefully, it would be wise to just install them now rather than later and make the update process as simple and less time consuming as possible.
You should reserve your copy ASAP
Reserving your copy will only show up on the devices with their OS (win 7, win 8.1) updated fully, then a windows icon will show up on the bottom right to reserve your windows 10 copy. Its wise to do so, so your computer will download the new OS in the background and simply ask you when its okay to install the OS at your most convenient time. I myself have reserved a copy and will be updating once im sure that its okay to do so. Check out this tutorial by Redmond Pie on reserving your copy.
